§ 42. Mr. David Reedasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will increase the number of new town residents who serve on the Board of the Aycliffe Development Corporation.
§ Mr. ChannonIn appointing members of a new town development corporation, my right hon. Friend is required, under the New Towns Acts, to have regard to the desirability of securing the services of one or more persons resident in or having special knowledge of the locality in which the new town is situated. Moreover, as also required under the Acts, he consults such local authorities as appear to him to be concerned. The claims of Aycliffe residents are thus invariably fully considered when appointments are made to the Board of the Aycliffe Development Corporation.
§ Mr. David Reedasked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects to review membership of the Board of the Aycliffe Development Corporation.
§ Mr. ChannonMy right hon. Friend hopes to do so this year.
