asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what progress Her Majesty's Government have made towards implementing the recommendations of the 1968 United Nations Conference on Trade and Development regarding the trade and products of the developing nations; and whether he will make a statement.

Clause 1 of the Finance Bill seeks powers to enable us to introduce generalised tariff preferences. We take an active and constructive part in U.N.C.T.A.D.'s continuing work on the other recommendations of the 1968 Conference regarding the trade of developing countries.
