asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many notifications of redundancies were made in Wales in the first three months of 1971; what was the number of people involved; and how this compares with the figure for 1970.

In the first three months of 1971, 109 notifications of redundancies in Wales were received by my Department, involving a total of 7,100 employees. During 1970, 172 notifications were received, involving 9,400 employees.
