HC Deb 04 May 1971 vol 816 cc343-4W
Q13. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister whether he will, during the present negotiations for entry into the European Economic Community, demand certain portfolios in the European Cabinet; and whether he will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the Commission of the Communities. In the event of our joining the Communities, Her Majesty's Government expect to nominate the same number of Commissioners as other member countries of comparable size.

Q18. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the Government's desire to promote full discussion of all aspects of Great Britain's possible entry into the European Economic Community, he will reconsider the policy of his Administration of not interfering in programme matters, so that he can request the British Broadcasting Corporation and the Independent Television Authority to afford broadcasting facilities to all political parties which contested the last General Election to explain their views on Great Britain's entry into the European Economic Community.

The Prime Minister

No. It is for the individual parties to decide what use they make of the time allocated for party political broadcasts.
