§ Mr. Stanbrookasked the Secretary at State for the Environment whether he will advise local housing authorities to enable their tenants to pay rent by means of the Giro, in order to reduce the risk of robbery and to demonstrate the efficiency and value of the Giro.
§ Mr. AmeryArrangements for the payment of council house rents are the responsibility of the local housing authorities themselves. I am sure that they are always prepared to look at new methods of collection but it is not for me to recommend the use of any particular banking system.
