asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is satisfied with the progress being made by local authorities in establishing housing advisory centres; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Amery

An ever-increasing number of authorities are setting up Housing Aid Centres; and I understand that many London Boroughs are proposing to do so in the near future.

I have written to a number of selected housing authorities encouraging them to establish centres in their areas. It is too early yet to assess the full response.
