§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why he has decided that it is inappropriate to increase payments of grant to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents for the promotion of home safety, in view of the fact that he is simultaneously considering new rules to make homes safer.
Mr. SharpiesThe annual grant towards the cost of the Society's expenditure on home safety publicity is being increased from £11,000 in the current financial year to £13,500. The extent to which regulations are made under the Consumer Protection Act, 1961, relating to the safety of consumer goods has no bearing on the amount of the grant.
