§ Mr. Moateasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the latest available figure for uninsured losses caused by fire damage to Government property.
§ Mr. HigginsLosses of Government property, which is not normally commercially insured, are recorded in appropriation accounts, but the classification does not distinguish as a separate category all those due to fire and does not include repairable damage. Of the larger cases reported in detail in the 1969–70 Accounts, £276,005 was attributed to fire. Fuller information could only be obtained at the cost of disproportionate time and effort.
