HC Deb 22 March 1971 vol 814 cc16-7W
81. Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions have taken place regarding a world disaster fund; what action has been taken for the resettlement of the victims in known disaster areas; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Godber

The United Nations Economic and Social Council proposed the establishment of a world disaster fund last July, and will consider next July a report by the Secretary-General on the co-ordination of international disaster relief.

The resettlement of victims of natural disasters is primarily a matter for the Government of the territory concerned.
