§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will seek an early opportunity to pay an official visit to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics to discuss with the Soviet Government outstanding political and economic problems and the situation in the Middle East, so far as it affects the position of Israel and countries of the Arab bloc of nations.

I look forward to taking advantage at an appropriate time of an invitation to visit Moscow, which I have already accepted in principle, to resume discussion of these and other subjects with the Russians.
