HC Deb 19 March 1971 vol 813 c405W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Attorney-General why he will not give an estimate of the number of additional judges, including county court judges, required in England and Wales to apply the community laws, including the recovery of fines imposed by the commission, or the European court, if the United Kingdom signs the Treaty of Rome.

The Attorney-General

The estimate is none.

Mr. Deakins

asked the Attorney-General under what Community laws, on the United Kingdom's accession to the Treaty of Rome, United Kingdom citizens would become liable to imprisonment for refusal to pay fines imposed upon them for breaches of those laws.

The Attorney-General

The question is at present being examined.
