HC Deb 18 March 1971 vol 813 cc399-400W
Miss Quennell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, how many international treaties have been concluded between the United Kingdom and other countries in this century, in which provision for secession by the countries party to it has been an integral part of the treaty; and which treaties these were.

Mr. Kershaw

Approximately 3,500 international treaties have been concluded by the United Kingdom during this century. It is estimated that at least 70 per cent. of these treaties contain clauses providing for termination or withdrawal.
