HC Deb 18 March 1971 vol 813 c385W
61. Mr. Scott-Hopkins

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many immigrants to this country from the Commonwealth since 1960 are awaiting repatriation to their country of origin owing to the fact that they have been unemployed for over six months.

Mr. Dean

While the Supplementary Benefits Commission is prepared to advance the costs of repatriation in certain exceptional circumstances to immigrants unable to support themselves and who wish to return to their country of origin, unemployment for a particular period is not of itself a ground for its agreeing to do so.
