§ Mr. Ronald Brownasked the Secretary of State for Employment in view of the development of a flame-proofing solution that will not support combustion and does not require combustion as a flame retardant property, if he will call for an urgent investigation into its application on foam and latex material used in furniture manufacture and bedding.
§ Mr. Dudley SmithMy Department, in conjunction with the Fire Research Station, is at present carrying out a series of investigations into the behaviour of foam plastics when burnt in bulk. These will include tests on flame retardant material and material treated with a flameproofing solution, as well as tests on untreated foam plastics.
