§ Mr. AmeryThe total cost of the maintenance and cleaning of buildings in 1969 was estimated at £2,250 million; this covers maintenance, minor improvements, cleaning and expenditure by private householders on materials. Of this, cleaning was estimated at some £650 million; separate estimates are not available for external and internal cleaning.
