asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many persons have been convicted of the offence of using an instrument to procure a miscarriage since the coming into effect of the Abortion Act.

In 1969, the only full year since the coming into force of the Abortion Act, 1967, for which statistics are available, 27 males and 21 females

of amounts involved and the purpose of aid.

Mr. Sharples

The district councils have submitted no projects. But the Lancashire County Council has received approval under the programme for five years' running costs, totalling £6,800 a year, of two new nursery classes which are being provided at Ince-in-Makerfield.
