Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many new primary schools were started, and how many completed, in each of the last eight years; and if he will now estimate how many will be started, and how many completed, in 1971, 1972, 1973, and 1974, respectively.

The answer to the first part of the question is given in the table below. I estimate that 45 new primary schools will be started in 1971 and 29 completed. I cannot yet forecast the numbers of starts and completions in later years.
