§ 44. Mr. James Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proposals he has for increasing charges to students in further education establishments, and if he will make a statement.
Mr. Edward TaylorIt is for the education authorities to determine the fees to be charged. I am sending the hon. Members a copy of the report of a working party set up by the local authority associations in 1969 at the invitation of the then Secretary of State.
This report, which proposed a uniform fees structure for vocational courses of further education, was commended to authorities by the associations. Some authorities are implementing it this ses- 320W sion, and others intend to do so in 1971–72.
