HC Deb 16 March 1971 vol 813 cc315-6W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when he proposes to indicate the Government's choice of a site for the third London airport.

Mr. Noble

I have nothing to add at present to the statements made by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment on 4th March, 1971.

Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether it is the Government's intention that the site of a third London airport should be owned by the British Airports Authority or by some other specified body, in or outside the public sector.

Mr. Noble

I would expect the British Airports Authority to operate such an airport but there has been no decision on the way in which the site would be made available for airport development.
