HC Deb 16 March 1971 vol 813 cc316-7W
Mr. Sproat

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications (1) how many telephones are installed in homes, places of business and Post Office kiosks, respectively, at the latest available date, in the United Kingdom;

(2) how many telephones the Post Office estimates it will install in homes, places of business, and Post Office kiosks, respectively, this year and over each of the following four years.

Mr. Chataway

I understand that the figures for exchange connections at 31st December, 1970, were Homes 6,350,000. Business 2,635,000 and Call Offices 75,600. Estimates of future supply of telephones is a management matter for the Post Office.
