HC Deb 16 March 1971 vol 813 c299W
Mr. Peter Mills

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will ban the use of the drug "Stresnil" which damps down the brain of a pig to stop its natural belligerance, until adequate tests have been made to see that no residual effect from the carcases can be experienced in humans.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

No. The product "Stresnil" has been cleared under the Veterinary Products Safety Precautions Scheme on the advice of the Advisory Committee on Pesticides and Other Toxic Chemicals. It considers that, when administered in accordance with instructions, the product should not present a risk to consumers.
