HC Deb 16 March 1971 vol 813 cc266-7W
39. Sir B. Rhys Williams

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, what study he has made of the particular consequences of the changes in price which have taken place in the past two years in food, clothing and home heating on the standard of living of households consisting of one and of two adults, respectively, with up to three children in each case; and if he will publish the relevant data.

Sir K. Joseph

Some relevant information will be available when the results of the Family Expenditure Survey for 1970 are published later this year. Information about retail prices is published monthly and the effects of price changes on Social Security benefits are kept under close review by my Department. Separate studies of the standard of living of households have not been undertaken.
