HC Deb 16 March 1971 vol 813 c292W
Mr. Ian Lloyd

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what he estimates would be the cost to the Inland Revenue of raising the tax-free limit on luncheon vouchers by five new pence, 10 new pence and 15 new pence, respectively.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

The tax not charged on luncheon vouchers is estimated to amount to about £5½ million a year. On the assumption that there were no other changes and existing arrangements continued at the higher level, this amount would be increased to some £7¼ million, £9 million, and £11 million respectively if the limit were increased as suggested.
