HC Deb 15 March 1971 vol 813 c213W
48. Mr. John Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether, in view of the growing unemployment in Wales and the increase in bus fares, he will arrange for social security benefits to be paid by post to those living in areas where there are no convenient payment centres, particularly in the Glyncorrwy area.

Mr. Dean

Unemployment benefit and any supplementary benefit required by an unemployed person is usually paid in cash at the employment exchange but payment is made by post if the claimant lives six miles or more from the exchange. The Glyncorrwy area is conveniently served by the exchange at Cymmer, about 2½ miles from Glyncorrwy.
