HC Deb 15 March 1971 vol 813 c247W
Mrs. Doris Fisher

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the loss to the revenue arising from 40,000 workers employed by Rolls-Royce Limited becoming redundant during March, 1971, and thereby ceasing to pay income tax.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

I think that the hon. Member over-estimates the number of Rolls-Royce employees who might become redundant. I cannot, in any event, make an estimate of the loss of tax that might result from redundancies.
