§ Mr. John Stradling Thomasasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what research his Department is currently undertaking to improve safety of vehicles in all weather conditions; and if he will introduce regulations to ensure that reflector surfaces are displayed on the rear of all vehicles.
§ Mr. PeytonThe Road Research Laboratory has on hand a considerable volume of work concerning road safety. Current regulations require vehicles to be fitted with rear reflectors.
Heavy vehicles will in addition, as from 1st November, require rear markings of reflective and fluorescent material.
