asked the Minister of State for Defence what representations he has received regarding the future use of Royal Air Force, Syerston, which is being retained on a care and maintenance basis; and if he will now make a statement on his intentions with regard to the future of this base.

Last summer Nottinghamshire local education authority wrote to ask about the future of the married quarters at Syerston.

I do not expect to be able to announce a decision about the future of the station for at least another six months.

I will write to the hon. Member when I am able to let him have some definite information.
