HC Deb 15 March 1971 vol 813 cc222-3W
Mr. Carter

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a further statement detailing his policy in the field of private hospitalisation.

Sir K. Joseph

I cannot add to the view I expressed on 23rd February in a supplementary reply to the hon. Member for Halifax (Dr. Summerskill) that a proper proportion of beds should be available in National Health Service hospitals for people who wish to pay for treatment, bearing in mind the needs of those who do not wish to pay, who constitute the vast majority.-[Vol. 812, c. 301–3.]
