HC Deb 15 March 1971 vol 813 cc254-7W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will explain the discrepancy in the number per thousand of physically handicapped persons in the records of local authorities; if he will take steps to improve the registration techniques of authorities whose records are defective; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Thomas

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to him on 24th February by my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Social Services. I shall consider these matters with local authorities in Wales when they have had the opportunity to study the report of the national survey of the physically handicapped which is due to published soon.—[Vol. 812, c.189.]

Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he is aware of the discrepancy in the expenditure per head of registered disabled persons in each local authority; if he will take action to improve the performance of the backward authorities; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Thomas

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to him on 23rd February by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services. Local authorities will shortly be able to study the report of the national survey of the physically handicapped, and I will then consider these matters with them.—[Vol. 802, c. 75–76.]
