HC Deb 12 March 1971 vol 813 c197W
Mr. John

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what were the number of unfilled employment vacancies in the areas served by the Pontypridd, Pontyclun and Tonyrefail employment exchanges in December, 1970, January, 1971, and February, 1971; and how those corresponded to the figures one year previously.

Mr. Dudley Smith

I have been asked to reply.

Following is the information:

NOTIFIED VACANCIES REMAINING UNFILLED IN THE AREA COVERED BY THE PONTYPRIDD, PONTYCLUN AND TONYREFAIL EMPLOYMENT EXCHANGES
Pontypridd Pontyclun Tonyrefail
December, 1969 357 32 5
January, 1970 351 45 11
February, 1970 312 30 7
December, 1970 307 23
January, 1971 260 46 3
February, 1971 269 33 5

The statistics relate only to notified vacancies remaining unfilled and do not purport to measure the total unsatisfied demand for labour.

Mr. John

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what empty factory space exists in the area of the Pontypridd, Pontyclun and Tonyrefail employment exchanges; and what is expected to become vacant in the next three months.

Mr. Anthony Grant

I have been asked to reply.

Details for all empty factory space are not available. Of factories provided by the Department of Trade and Industry under the Local Employment Acts, one of 23,000 sq. ft. is at present empty and another of 15,000 sq. ft. is expected to be vacated shortly. New tenants are being sought for both.
