§ Mr. Dudley SmithRates of unemployment can be calculated for the whole of the Stoke-on-Trent travel-to-work area, which includes Newcastle-under-Lyme, but not separately for its constituent parts. At 8th February, 1971, the rate was 2.8 per cent. At that date there were 1,084 people registered as unemployed in the area covered by the Newcastle-under-Lyme employment exchange.
