HC Deb 11 March 1971 vol 813 c145W
Mr. Leslie Huckfield

asked the Minister of State for Defence what proposals he has for maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of personal information stored on computer databanks in his Department.

Lord Balniel

The rules of confidentiality observed by the Ministry of Defence are designed to ensure that no unauthorised person has access to personal information stored in computer files.

Mr. Leslie Huckfield

asked the Minister of State for Defence what proposals he has for the integration of his Department's computer databanks containing personal information with those of other Government Departments.

Lord Balniel

None, but a personnel databank being planned to assist in the management of non-industrial civilian staff in the Ministry of Defence will provide information to a central civilian staff databank being planned by the Civil Service Department.
