§ Mr. Ronald Bellasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what views Her Majesty's Government have expressed to the Government of Indonesia about the sequestration under the Sukarno régime of the proper- 160W ties of Anglo-Indonesian Plantations Limited, valued in 1964 at more than £6 million; and whether he will express the concern of Her Majesty's Government at the delay in returning to their owners or in agreeing payment for these British properties.
§ Mr. KershawHer Majesty's Government have made known to the Indonesian Government on many occasions their serious concern over the fact that Anglo-Indonesian Plantations Limited has neither yet been able to recover its properties nor has received any payment for them since they were taken over seven years ago. Her Majesty's Government have also informed the Indonesian Government of their firm belief that in order to maintain the confidence of businessmen and investors in the Indonesian market, it is important that the Indonesian Government should be seen to be prepared to reach a speedy and equitable settlement with the company. The company hopes to renew negotiations with the Indonesian Government later this month, and Her Majesty's Government strongly hope that these will be successful.
