asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many preservation orders have been made on trees in the cities of Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds; approximately how many trees these orders cover; and what is the approximate estimate of the total numbers of trees in each of these cities.

The number of tree preservation orders in force at 31st December, 1970, in Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds was 29, 45, two and 10, respectively. The other information requested by my hon. Friend is not readily available.
