§ Mr. PeytonA small proportion of garages authorised to carry out tests fail to meet required standards. In order to maintain a high standard I shall not hesitate to withdraw authorisation from such firms. Some 300 to 400 garages out of 20,000 lose their appointments each year in this way. New applicants to the scheme will continue to be very closely scrutinised.
