HC Deb 09 March 1971 vol 813 c72W
Mr. Clark Hutchison

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will introduce legislation to prohibit the export of live animals, to wit, cattle, sheep, pigs and goats for slaughter.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

No. Adequate powers exist under the Import, Export and Customs Powers (Defence) Act, 1939, to prohibit the export of livestock. Cattle, sheep and pigs are already subject to export licensing control.
