HL Deb 09 March 1971 vol 316 cc51-2WA
LORD GARDINER

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many legal members they estimate will require to be appointed under the Industrial Relations Bill to the Industrial Court, the Industrial Arbitration Tribunal and the Industrial Tribunals respectively.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

As my right honourable friend the Attorney-General stated in another place, it is not possible at this stage to say how many appointments of judges to the Industrial Relations Court will be required. If the Industrial Relations Bill is passed in its present form the equivalent of some 60 additional full-time appointments of legally qualified Chairman will be required to the Industrial Tribunals*. It is not expected that any additional legal members of the Industrial Arbitration Bcard will be needed.
