Mr. Ralph Howellasked the Minister for the Civil Service whether he will consider publishing at monthly intervals the total number of civil servants together with the number entering the Civil Service or leaving it by retirement or otherwise, distinguishing between non-industrial and industrial categories.
§ Mr. David HowellStaff numbers are at present published quarterly but we will certainly consider more frequent publication if there is a demand for this. As regards the second part of the Question, it would not be possible without disproportionate effort and expense to acquire full details of employment and retirement in all parts of government each month.
