Valuers and Rating Officers (Women)

Mrs. Joyce Butler

asked the Minister for the Civil Service how many women serve as valuers and as rating officers; and what proportion this is of the total staff of valuers and rating officers.

There are 2,513 professional valuers in the Inland Revenue Valuation Offices who are employed full-time on valuation work, which in England and Wales includes valuation for rating purposes. Twelve (0.5 per cent.) of them are women.

The Treasury employs nine valuers all of whom are men.
