HC Deb 08 March 1971 vol 813 c26W
102. Mr. David James

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what proportion of registered unemployed in the county of Dorset is early-retired persons over the age of 45 years, who registered with the principal intention of maintaining their stamp contributions for sickness benefit and the retirement pension.

Mr. Dudley Smith

About 20 per cent. of registered unemployed adults in Dorset are persons over the age of 45 who have retired from their normal occupations. In order to receive credit of contributions under the National Insurance Acts a registrant must be available for employment.
