§ Mr. Martenasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what quantity of wine from the Commonwealth and South Africa was imported last year; what percentage this represents of total wine imports; what was the average tariff; and what will be the tariff if the United Kingdom joins the Common Market.
§ Mr. Anthony Stodart6 million gallons of wine were imported from the Commonwealth and South Africa in 1970; this represented 15.6 per cent. of our total wine imports. The other parts of the Question raise complex issues of the protective element in revenue duties and I will write to my hon. Friend about these in the near future.
