Mr. Carter

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will announce the numbers of redundancies that have resulted from actions of the Government in areas formerly covered by the Ministry of Technology.

Mr. Ridley

Some staff from those areas of the Ministry of Technology incorporated into the Department of Trade and Industry have been redeployed, but none has been made redundant.
