HC Deb 04 March 1971 vol 812 cc505-6W
Mr. Judd

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what consultations she has had with Portsmouth City Council concerning financial assistance for modernisation of Stamshaw Junior School, Stamshaw Infant School and other pre-1903 schools within the city; and whether she will make a statement.

Mr. van Straubenzee

The Portsmouth education authority has just submitted proposals for the replacement of the Stamshaw and Binsteed Road primary schools in the 1973–74 programme. It has also proposed the provision of additional secondary school places which, if approved, would bring about better conditions for children of both primary and secondary school age. These proposals are now being examined.
