§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Lord President of the Council what estimate he has made of the value of the current salary of a Member of Parliament in February, 1972, compared with October, 1964, on the basis of a 9 per cent. increase in the cost of living in the next 12 months.
§ Mr. WhitelawI have not made any such estimate because I cannot accept the assumption which the hon. Member has made in regard to future price movements.
