§ Mr. Chichester-Clarkasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proportion of the land so far sold by the Land Commission has been disposed of to local authorities; what proportion to other public bodies; what proportion to private purchasers; and whether he will give the equivalent figures in terms of acres.
§ Mr. Graham PageThe figures up to 26th February, 1971, are as follows:
Acres Percentages Local Authorities 716 80.0 Other Public Bodies 4 0.5 Private Sector 176 19.5 The figures for the private sector include 110 acres sold by auction but not yet legally conveyed.
§ Mr. Chichester-Clarkasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he is taking to ensure that land sold by the Land Commission is in small enough parcels to enable small firms to buy it; and what is his policy in this regard.
§ Mr. Graham PageThe policy being followed by the Land Commission with my right hon. Friend's approval is to sell land in small parcels suitable for purchase by small builders wherever this is practicable but it may not be possible to do this where there are problems of providing access or where the local authority requires comprehensive development.
