§ 72. Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications why he will not, to resolve the dispute in the Post Office and to make more money available to the lower paid workers, give a general direction to the Post Office Board to reduce their higher paid administrative staff and their salaries and to publish the numbers of administrative staff with salaries of £1,000 per annum 327W or more four years ago and for each year to date and the total cost of salaries in each year.
§ Mr. ChatawayThe numbers and pay of Post-Office staff are matters for the Post Office, and it would not be appropriate for me to give such a general direction.
