HC Deb 29 June 1971 vol 820 c85W
Sir Clive Bossom

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment why no crash barriers have been installed on the new length of the M3 motorway opened recently; what are the predicted volumes of traffic which will use the motorway; and when it is intended that barriers should be provided.

Mr. Graham Page

It was not possible to make acceptable contractural arrangements to provide central reserve safety barriers on the Blackwater to Lightwater Section of M3 before it opened. Barriers will be provided on this section this financial year and on other sections of M3 in accordance with priorities set out in the National Barrier Programme published in HANSARD on 16th December, 1970, as amended.—[Vol. 808, c.353–4.]
