HC Deb 29 June 1971 vol 820 c66W
31 and 46. Mr. Woof

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) if he will initiate a departmental study of the system of food distribution in the United Kingdom, considering, in particular, the rôle of the middle man in relation to rising prices;

(2) whether he will institute an investigation into the effects of rising distribution costs on prices of food and other essential items.

Mr. Prior

These matters have been studied recently and I see no need at present for the further enquiries suggested by the hon. Member. But I have set up a Committee on Contract Farming to study the area where I think further information is required.
