asked Her Majesty's Government:

What was the cost of publicity by the Government for the last year for which Statistics are readily available:

  1. (a) to road accidents,
  2. (b) as to home accidents.

LORD MOWBRAY AND STOURTON

  1. (a) £1,034,000 was spent on road safety publicity in the financial year 1970–71.
  2. (b) In the financial year 1970–71, the cost of publicity in Great Britain on fire prevention in the home was about £70,000 and on other home safety matters, £18,000.
