§ Mr. GodberA Press interview on 27th March, which is undoubtedly authentic but was not published until May, showed Mr. Jackson to be in good health and spirits. I regret that there has been no direct news of him since, although unconfirmed reports have within recent weeks repeated that he is well.
Her Majesty's Government remain extremely concerned at Mr. Jackson's prolonged captivity. We are continuing to do all we can to secure his release. We remain in close touch with the Uruguayan authorities; and we have asked the President of Chile if he would use his good offices to help in this matter.
